GLOSSARY
Water Consumption (Mist Cooling)
Water use for high-pressure outdoor mist cooling is typically 2–8 L/min for a full active system. Over a 4-hour peak cycle, a mid-sized restaurant terrace uses 500–1,200 litres — comparable to a single bathroom flush per seat per service.
Also known as: Mist water usage · System flow rate · L/min mist
Typical consumption by system size
| System tier | Area | Flow rate | 4h cycle volume |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compact | 10–65 m² | 1.5–2.5 L/min | 360–600 L |
| Standard | 50–300 m² | 3–5 L/min | 720–1,200 L |
| High-cap | 200–600 m² | 6–10 L/min | 1,440–2,400 L |
Water-source compatibility
MistSystem installations operate on standard PAM city water, deep-well with filtration, rainwater-harvest tanks (with UV treatment), or hotel grey-water polishing systems. A 5-micron pre-filter is standard; reverse-osmosis is recommended for coastal or high-mineral sources to prevent nozzle clogging.
Water-responsible operation
- Controllers pause during rain (rain sensor standard)
- Humidistat caps operation above 85 % RH (no point misting into saturated air)
- Scheduled runs respect venue hours — no 24/7 operation
- Nozzle ceramic seats eliminate drip between activations — zero off-cycle waste
In hotel sustainability reporting, mist cooling water consumption is typically 0.3–0.6 % of total property water — a rounding error compared to laundry, kitchen, or landscaping demand.
