GLOSSARY
Pergola Cooling
Pergola cooling routes mist nozzle lines along pergola beams and cross-rafters to condition the air beneath. The pergola gives concealed placement and a natural height (2.6–3.2 m) for flash-evaporation cooling over dining and lounge furniture.
Also known as: Pergola misting · Trellis cooling · Bale bengong cooling
Why pergolas are the ideal host structure
Pergolas are visually intentional — guests expect equipment in the rafters (lights, fans, sound). This makes them perfect for concealed mist-cooling routing. Nozzles sit 2.6–3.2 m above the dining zone, which is the sweet-spot height for sub-10-micron droplets to flash-evaporate before contact with guests or tabletops.
Concealment detail
- Stainless steel lines run along the beam underside, painted or wrapped to match pergola finish
- Nozzles spaced 0.8–1.2 m apart depending on coverage target
- End caps and flow balancing at line terminations ensure uniform pressure along the run
- Quick-disconnects at each segment so staff can clean nozzles on a quarterly schedule without tools
Common pergola venues in Indonesia
Villa bale bengong (traditional open pavilion), restaurant terrace pergolas (Canggu beach-clubs, Ubud rice-field dining), hotel lobby porte-cochère, wedding chapel exteriors, and beach-shack rebuilds in Uluwatu and Kuta Selatan. The system works with traditional alang-alang, bamboo, hardwood, and modern steel pergolas.
